Jewell Chance McMillan of Sylvania died Sept. 27 Mrs. Jewell Chance McMillan, 73, of Sylvania died Saturday night, Sept. 27, 2008 at her residence under hospice care, surrounded by her family. Her funeral was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, at the Sylvania First Baptist Church with the Revs. Lonnie Norris and J.C. Bradley officiating. Burial was in the Screven County Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. McMillan was born in Jenkins County. She was a member of the Sylvania First Baptist Church and the Eastern Star, and a former member of the Homemakers Club. She was a retired dental assistant and nurse. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua P. Bragg. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Lenward D. (Baby) McMillan of Sylvania; two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie M. and William Robert Roe and Angie M. and Craig Steinhaus, all of Sylvania; a son, Lenward D. McMillan Jr. of Sylvania; a sister, Evelyn Chance Gay of Vidalia; a brother, Thurmon O. Chance of Sylvania; grandchildren, Alecia M. and Barry Deal, Lyndsay Brooke McMillan, Nikki S. and Jeremy Bazemore, Allison Steinhaus, Barrett L. Roe and Kendall J. Roe, all of Sylvania, Monica B. and Michael Woods of Guyton and Jonathan P. and Paige Bragg of Bluffton, S.C.; three great-grandchildren, Ashley D. Woods, Corey M. Woods and Cody W. Deal; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers were Alexander Darley, Al Darley, Donnie Chance, Lynn Chance, Larry Ward and Jack Ward. Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home of Sylvania was in charge of arrangements. |
