Garden Club cleans up

Members of the Camellia Garden Club recently were busy cleaning up, weeding and shaping one of the gardens in Millen. They stated that they were "hard pressed" to pull weeds due to the hard ground, and that many of the plants have died, due to the dry weather. The members who were working had no means to water the plants; the water hose there had been cut into several pieces. Doris Rabitsch, president of the club, and the club members expressed their desire to suggest that a watering system be installed, which would enhance the area. They also suggested that more mulch or pine straw would help hold moisture. Rabitsch had brought many pieces of equipment to tend the garden's needs, which were used by the members. Shown enjoying the outing, from left, are: Rabitsch, Janette Brantley, Barbara Bowers, Veronica Cowart and Runette Herrmann. (Photo contributed)
