Jimmy Dean Murphy, 73, of Millen, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009.

Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2009 at Millen Cemetery with the Rev. Roland Dann officiating.

Mr. Murphy was born in Jenkins County. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a long haul truck owner and a member of the Green Fork Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dawn Taylor Oglesby and son, Jimmy Dean Murphy Jr.

Survivors include his four grandchildren, Chelsea Carissa Taylor and Garrett Dean Taylor, both of Millen, and Michael Swayde Oglesby and Cherokee Montana Oglesby, both of Twin City; two sisters, Hildred (James W.) Johnson, of Garfield and Joyce Burke, of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

Crowe-Fields Funeral Home was in charge.
