(Photo contributed) Jenkins County High School (JCHS) was well represented at the girls Region and State track meet. As a team, the girls finished in 4th in Region and 14th in State.

"This was a great accomplishment," commented coach Chuck Sanders.

As for the individual events, JCHS had some outstanding performances from the girls. Ayana Walker won the 100 and 200 Meter Dashes in the Region meet. She finished 2nd in 200 meter and 4th in the 100 meter events at State. Deondra Lewis was also a Region Champion in the Shot Put and Discus events. Deondra finished in 8th place at State in the Discus event. Zandra Lake also was a Region Champ in the 300 Hurdles. Zandra finished in 8th place in her event at State.

Coach Sanders would also like to congratulate each girl, noting that just about the entire squad will be returning, along with some promising young 8th graders, and will, hopefully, be coming out next year to make the squad a lot better.
