Insurance Commissioner offers assistance
Georgia residents with insurance problems or questions can receive assistance directly from the office of Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine by contacting his insurance investigator working in the area.
An investigator from the office is scheduled to be in Waynesboro 12:30-2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at the Burke County Courthouse. Please call this location at (706) 554-2324 to confirm the investigator's schedule.
Open House and Bass Tournament to be
held at Bo Ginn Aquarium
The Jenkins County Development Authority (JCDA) is sponsoring an Open House and Bass Tournament to benefit the Bo
Ginn Aquarium at Magnolia Springs State Park Saturday, Aug. 8.
The Bass Tournament gets underway at 6 a.m. and the Open House activities begin at 7 p.m.
The tournament entry fee is $25, Admission to the aquarium is free, but donations will be gladly accepted. Millen Better Hometown will provide refreshments.
Bryan Clees, an award winning singer/songwriter will be the main attraction for the evening. Clees is a Tampa, Fla. native who now resides in Sylvania. Clees is scheduled to perform from 7-9 p.m.
Recreation Department updates
The Jenkins County Recreation Department is currently holding registration for football, ages 4-13, and soccer, ages 4-17. To register, come by the department during regular office hours to sign up. A birth certificate is required at the time of registration. The deadline for registering is Friday, Aug. 14.
Anyone desiring to coach football or soccer should come by the department and fill out a coaches' application. All coaches are required to have a background check. The deadline for applying is Friday, Aug. 14.
