Mrs. Elizabeth Newton Daniel, 98, of Millen died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Jenkins County Hospital.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2009 at the Millen Baptist Church with the Revs. David Wheeler and Maurice Crowder officiating. Burial was in the Millen Cemetery.

Mrs. Daniel was born January 26, 1911 in Jenkins County. She was a homemaker, member of the Millen Baptist Church and a charter member of the Azalea Garden Club.

She graduated in 1929 from the Georgia Normal School and attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. She taught school prior to joining her husband in their retail business.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Billy Daniel, and her son, Jim Daniel.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane D. Johnson of Millen; two sons, Julian W. (Betty) Daniel of Sylvania and Norman (Charlotte) Daniel of Hermosa Beach, Cal.; daughter-in-law, Lynda Daniel of Millen; 10 grandchildren, Julie Howle, Jack Daniel, Joel Daniel, John Daniel, Janice Daniel, Chris Johnson, Caroline Brainard, Beth Sexson, Geoffrey Daniel and Rebekah Daniel; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Active Pallbearers were deacons of the Millen Baptist Church.

Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Faithfull Workers Sunday School Class.
