Ruth Lane Mons, 85, of Millen died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 at her residence.

Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at Long Branch Church of God with the Revs. Britt Peavy and Bill Hamon officiating. Burial followed at Paynes Chapel Cemetery.

She was born in Jenkins County, had been a nurse for Bethany Nursing Center, and was a member of Long Branch Church of God.

Mrs. Mons was preceded in death by her husband, David Carl Mons Sr. and son, Randy Mons.

She is survived by her son, David (Melba) Mons of Millen; a brother, Emory L. (Bernease) Lane of Millen; three grandchildren, Angie Mons Wilkerson, Jennifer Spruce and Alison Mons Oglesby; and three great-grandchildren, Mandy, Corey and Caley.

Active Pallbearers were Seabie Lane, Emory L. Lane Jr., Derek Lane, John Lane, Joey Reeves, and Trent Lane.

Crowe-Fields Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
