Sheriff's Corner
During the month of September, Sheriff Robert Oglesby reports the following activity: 57 prisoners booked into the jail; average daily population of the jail was 24; 1,245 calls dispatched to/from deputies; 3 deer accidents investigated; 104 traffic stops conducted; 7 mental health transports made; 8 residential alarms investigated; 3 business alarms investigated; 494 church, business and residence checks performed; 14 school checks made; 81 civil papers served/attempted; 4 subpoenas served/attempted; 17 domestic disturbance calls investigated; 10 theft related crimes investigated; 5 residential burglaries investigated; 15 sex offender status checks performed; 3 sex offenders completed annual registration/update; 2 sex offenders reported change of vehicles; and 2 sex offenders reported change of telephone numbers.
Sheriff Oglesby noted that September was a busy month.
"I would like to commend the citizens of Jenkins County for being observant and calling us with information on cases and suspicious activity. Due to citizen involvement, cases are solved and our county is a safer place," he said.
