Health Department announces schedule
Over the past year the Jenkins County Health Department has sustained deep cuts in funding from the state resulting in staff layoffs and inability to fill vacated positions. This has resulted in increased workload for remaining staff.
In recent months it has become increasingly necessary for staff to complete necessary administrative duties. Therefore, the Jenkins County Board of Health has approved the following dates for the department to be closed to the public: Wednesday, Oct. 28; Wednesday, Nov. 18; Thursday, Dec. 10; and every Friday until further notice. In the future, the health department will close for staff meeting and monthly closeout for reports on the last working day of each month.
The health department and Board of Health appreciate the public's patience as staff tries to meet the growing needs of the county.
