Dorothy Thompson, 73, of Sylvania died Oct. 19
Dorothy Jean Heath Thompson, 73, of Sylvania passed away on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro.
Funeral Services were held 2 p.m.: Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009 at the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Chapel with the Rev. David Wheeler and the Rev. John McLaine officiating. Burial was at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
She was born in Jenkins County, was retired from Torrington Co. (Timken) and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband: Alton Thompson; son: Allen Thompson; and parents: Harley and Estelle Bragg Heath.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Venice T. and Cameron Shaw of Statesboro; a son, Gary Thompson of Augusta; a sister, Betty H. Chance of Perkins; a half-brother, Edward Heath of Augusta; grandchildren, Michael Cribb of Statesboro, Robert Cribb of Statham,, Lonnie Thompson and Jennifer Thompson, both of Augusta; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Beverly and Edward Friese, Jeanene and Jimmy Scott and Heyward Thompson, all of Sylvania; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Kirk Scott, Charles Scott, Thomas Lariscy, Dana Waters, Jody Scott, Brian Bohannon and Billy Weaver. Honorary pallbearers were Sylvia Blakey, Nell Bazemore, Jackie Hill, Betty Lee, Margie Berry, Lillian Weaver, Henrietta Connor and Sherry Bohannon.
