Juel Brinson Waters, 79, of Perkins died Nov. 1

Juel Brinson Waters, 79, of Perkins passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at Bethany Nursing Home in Millen.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at the Dry Branch Baptist Church in Perkins with the Rev. Brad Boynton and the Rev. David Wheeler officiating. Burial will be at Dry Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Waters will lie in state from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the church.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at Dry Branch Baptist Church from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Mrs. Waters was born in Screven County and was retired from Jockey International after 36 years of service. She was a member of Dry Branch Baptist Church in Perkins, a member of the W.M.U. at Dry Branch Baptist and a member of the Jockey Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis Walter and Annie Laura Smith Brinson.

Survivors are her husband, Clarence J. "C.J." Waters of Perkins; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan W. and Don Godbee and Dawn and Chris Patterson, all of Millen; sons and daughter-in-law: David Waters of Millen and Clarence J. "Jim" and Janie Waters of Perkins; sisters, Rose B. Mays of Perkins, Caroline B. Clifton and Aurelia Ann "F.A." Black, both of Millen; grandchildren, Wesley and Shana Godbee, Ashley Godbee and Kimberly and Jason Bennett, all of Millen, Heather and Craig Dyer of Blairsville, Summer and Gary Melton of Tacoma, Wash., C.J. and Ashley Waters of Statesboro, Anna Kate Waters of Anderson, S.C., Katie Patterson and Jacob Patterson, both of Hiawassee, Craig and Susan Godbee of Perry and Hayley Green of Statesboro; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Thomas Wallace, Mark Mays, Glen Mays, Dennis Small, Greg Hall, John Hendrix and Kenny Wallace. Honorary Pallbearers were Bethany Nursing Center employees.

Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
