Council of Churches collecting

Thanksgiving donations

The Jenkins County Council of Churches will be collecting green beans, stuffing, cranberry sauce and yams, as well as monetary donations, for Thanksgiving in Millen.

Donations can be delivered to the Jenkins County Family Enrichment Center.

The public's assistance is also needed in helping to identify families that will benefit from the Thanksgiving boxes. Names, addresses, telephone numbers should be submitted to JCFEC at 982-8004 by Wednesday, Nov. 18. Spaces are limited.

Meals will be available for pick up Tuesday, Nov. 24.

39'ers to meet Nov. 16

The 39'ers will meet noon Monday, Nov. 16, at the Millen United Methodist Church. The program will be on the Angel Food Ministries.

All members are encouraged to attend.

Recreation Department holding basketball

registration

The Jenkins County Recreation Department is holding registration for basketball for boys and girls, ages 6-12.

A birth certificate and registration fee is required at sign-up. The deadline for signing up is Monday, Dec. 7.

Friends of Magnolia Springs State Park

to meet

The Friends of Magnolia Springs State Park and Millen Milers and More will hold a joint meeting 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at shelter 32 at the park.

The program will begin with a spaghetti supper with the meeting to follow. The two main items of business will be the Cross Country 4.8 mile race on the Nov. 14 and the Heritage Festival on Dec 5.
