Cross Country race to be held Saturday
      The 12th Annual Cross Country 4.8 Mile run will be held this Saturday, Nov. 14, at Magnolia Springs State Park. Directed by Millen Milers and More, the event will start at 9 a.m.

Friends of MSSP meet
      The Friends of Magnolia Springs State Park (MSSP) met Oct. 18 and covered a wide range of items, including a report on the Sept. 26 Free State Parks Day with its good turnout in spite of rather nasty weather. Work is continuing on clearing of the area around the Fort Lawton site by the Sons of Confederate Veterans and improvements are being made in Group Shelter #1.

      Modern Woodmen Registered Representative Linda Bragg recently sponsored a Make-a-Difference Day project for some residents of the Bethany Nursing Center.       State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox named 53 students from around Georgia to serve on her 2009-2010 Student Advisory Council. Callie Dailey, a student at Jenkins County High School, was among those named to serve on the council.
