Cross Country race to be held Saturday
The 12th Annual Cross Country 4.8 Mile run will be held this Saturday, Nov. 14, at Magnolia Springs State Park.
Directed by Millen Milers and More, the event will start at 9 a.m. in front of Fort Lawton to the sound of powder rifles fired by the Sons of Confeder- ate Veterans. Participants will run trails within the park and finish at the main parking lot.
All participants will receive a race T-shirt with their entry and be eligible for first, second, and third place awards in 5-year age groups. Registration will be available before the race.
The highlight of the morning will be the honoring of the U.S. military during the awards ceremony. At 10:20 a.m., the Jenkins County High School JROTC will present the Colors. The VFW Color Guard will also be present. The SCV will provide the flag display, and after the Presentation of the Colors, one of the participating runners from Atlanta will play "Taps."
All members of the U.S. Military, active and retired, whether running or not, are invited to be guests for this ceremony.
