Cornelious Williams Sr., 92, of Millen died Oct. 20

Cornelious Williams Sr., 92, of Millen passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 in the comfort o his home.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 at Rocky Ford Baptist Church with the Rev. Thelma Evans officiating. Burial was at Fountain Spring Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Williams was born in Jenkins County. He was employed by Southern Railroad and retired Nov. 11, 1985. He was the chairman of the Deacon Board of Rocky Ford Baptist Church. In the summer of 1950, he married the love of his life, Juanita Williams, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by children, Cornelious Jr., Nathaniel (Ruby), Ivelyn (Larry), Lawrence (Deneen) and Linda (Ernest; 11 grandchildren, LaShelle, Chayla (Chris), Quincy, Roneisha, Ferman, Marquis, Ernest II, Ferran, Alexis, Christian and Nikki (Edward), whom he raised as a daughter; three great-grandchildren, Quincy T., Nyjay and Jaelyn; two sisters, Ossie and Virginia; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers were Alvin Roberts, Michael Williams, Nicolous Williams, David Toby, Melvin Calles and Deacon James Mozee.

Honorary pallbearers were Quincy Williams, Edward Venson III, Ferman Perry, Marquis Lewis, Tony White and Mickey Strong.

James A. Kirkland Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
