Honoring those who served
Local veterans were honored at the Jenkins County High School new gym during ceremonies held Nov. 11. The Jenkins County Middle School and High School Band played songs from each military service while the JROTC stood in ranks and saluted service members. Cadets Keondra Kelly and Lewis Williams presented the National Anthem. Cadets William Duck, Henry Yarbrough and Arion Waters presented two musical tributes. Cadet Henry Yarbrough read a poem titled “Heroes”, and another poem “Freedom is not free” was ready. Ayana Walker presented the history of Veterans Day, and cadet Andres Jeronimo closed the ceremony with “Taps”. JROTC members are shown with veterans participating in the program.
