John D. “Mutt” Oglesby, Sr., 84, died Nov. 17
Mr. John D. “Mutt” Oglesby Sr., 84, of Garfield died, Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 at Glendale Nursing Home in Wadley.
Funeral Services were held 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Oglesby was born in Emanuel County. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, retired from EMCO Metals in Twin City and was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Clifton Oglesby; three daughters, Wanda (Gary) Ullery of Crossville, Tenn., Chyrle (Rick) Moore of Wadley and Gail (Gary) Drake of Garfield; a son, John D. Oglesby Jr. of Garfield; two sisters, Maebell Johnson of Garfield and Bertice Hendley of Midville; 10 grandchildren, Gina Ullery Allman, Gary A. Ullery Jr., Renee M. Story, Jeff Drake, Tracie M. Hall, Rickey Moore, Leslie D. Frederick, Matt Thomas, Scott Thomas and Chelsea Oglesby, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
Crowe-Fields Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
