DR. HAYWARD CORDY Zion to observe Community Youth Sunday
Community Youth Sunday will be held at Zion Baptist Church 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 29. The speaker for the occasion will be Dr. Hayward Cordy, superintendent of the Johnson County school system, Wrightsville.
Dr. Cordy is the son of Carrie Lee Cordy and the late William Cordy of Wrightsville. He is a 1979 honor graduate of Johnson County High School. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary/Special Education, a master’s degree in Special Education and an educational specialist degree and doctorate degree in Administration and Supervision, all from Georgia Southern University.
Dr. Cordy began his teaching career at Jenkins County High School in 1983. After teaching four years, he began his administrative career in Jenkins County where he served as principals of the Jenkins County primary, middle and high schools. After serving as director of the River Quest Psychoeducational program from 1995-2000, he returned to Jenkins County as school superintendent until 2006.
The Rev. Cordy returned home in July 2006 to become superintendent of schools in Johnson County. He is a member of the Thompson Grove Baptist Church in Wrightsville where he served as assistant pastor for 15 years and pastor for eight years. He is the parent of one son, Joey Leon Cordy, and the grandparent of two grandchildren, Enrique Dante’ and Malachi.

Ogeechee Free Will to hold program
Ogeechee Free Will Baptist Church will host a gospel sing 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29 with the Master’s group of Millen performing.

The 11th Pastor and First Lady Appreciation program will be held at Williams Grove Missionary Baptist Church 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6. The Rev. Bobby G. Williams Jr. is pastor.
The Rev. Elliot Bing and the Phillips Grove Baptist Church is in charge of the service.

Hurricane Branch to hold candlelight service
Hurricane Branch Baptist Church will hold a Candlelight Service 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6.
The special guest will be Minister J.H. Herrington and Simmons Branch Baptist Church, which is in charge of the service.

Lane Grove to hold 16th Pastor Anniversary
Lane Grove Baptist Church will celebrate its 16th Pastor’s Anniversary Sunday, Dec. 6, for the Rev. Robert Owens, pastor.
The sermon will be given by the Rev. Allen Pierce and Mt. Olliff Baptist Church of Claxton. A selection will be presented by Sis. Drummer and the Spiritual Gospel Angels. Sis. Lucille Montgomery will present a song.

All Faith Deliverance Church to hold 2nd Anniversary
All Faith Deliverance Church, 449 Wasden Street, will hold its Second Anniversary 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28. The guest speaker for the occasion will the Rev. David L. Reese Sr. Master and Mistress of Ceremony will be Deacon Clifford Mosley and Sis. Vera Williams.

New Light Baptist to hold dedication service
The New Light Baptist Church will hold a dedication service for the new renovations to the church 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29.

Welcome Baptist Church will hold its 5th Sunday service Sunday, Nov. 29. The theme will be “walk by faith.”
Sunday School begins at 10:30 a.m. and the worship service at 11:30a .m.
