Leadership award recipient announced

(Photo contributed) The Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Award is presented to a sophomore student who demonstrates strong leadership ability, sensitivity to others, and desires to communicate knowledge to his/her peers. The emphasis is on personal incentive and leadership potential. The recipient of this prestigious award for this year’s tenth grade class at Jenkins County High School (JCHS) is Dallas Wilson.

“It is indeed an honor and pleasure to have students who are ambitious and who have the desire to lead others. Dallas is an exemplary model of this type student and leader. We are proud of our students and wish to congratulate him on receiving this prestigious honor,” states Dr. Joey Kirkland, principal at JCHS.

Dallas is the son of Jet Wilson and Sandra Oglesby and the grandson of Martha Sue Wilson and Shirley Taylor. While in high school he has been active in FFA, HERO and the BETA Club. He has consistently been awarded the Millen Rotary Scholar Award. Dallas is active in 4-H Project Safe as is an active member in the Oak Hill Baptist Youth Group. Dallas will represent JCHS well as the Hugh O’Brian scholar.
