Barbara Nell Ward Alsobrooks, 76, of Millen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009 at her residence.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009 at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home with the Revs. Bill Hamon and Tim Tatum officiating. Burial followed in the Millen Cemetery.

She was born in Jenkins County and was a homemaker and a member of the Long Branch Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Alsobrooks, and parents, Robert and Susie Ward, and brothers, Jerry E. and William P. Ward.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Edward Alsobrooks; two daughters, Faye A. (Charles) Jackson of Cleveland, Tenn. and Lynn Alsobrooks of Millen; a sister, Sybil (Lewis Edward) Jenkins of Millen; a brother, Don Ward of Rocky Mount, N.C.; four grandchildren, Michael L. Gregory, Dallas G. Washburn, Will R. Chance and Krystle L. Chance; four great-grandchildren, Cole and Clay Johnson, Cameron Chance and Owen Washburn.

Pallbearers were Chuck Jackson, Keith Ward, Greg Ward, Lewis Edward Jenkins, Kenneth Williams and Johnny Lacienski.

Crowe-Fields Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
