Athletes read to JCES students

Members of the Jenkins County High School varsity boys’ and girls’ basketball teams are participating in the “Literacy Partners” program sponsored by the Jenkins County Family Enrichment Center. The players read to all five Prekindergarten classes at Jenkins County Elementary School. To show their gratitude, the elementary students made large signs for both teams that are displayed in the school gymnasium. The elementary students received free passes for themselves and an adult into a recent game. Basketball players shown with Ashley Powell’s class are Ayana Walker, Cortnei Earls, Zandra Lake, Deondra Lewis, Adrianna Cooper, Akeem Young, Marvin London, Tyrone Brown, Lavontay Evans and Lavontae Hall.
