(Photo contributed) The Millen Lion’s Club, assisted by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2776, facilitated a second Harvest Food Give-away, Saturday, Jan. 30, to approximately 275-300 needy Jenkins County families. This event was held at the Jenkins County High School (JCHS) parking lot.

Event coordinators want to acknowledge those who helped make the event a success: the Family Enrichment Center and Jenkins County Department of Family and Children Services (DFACS) identified and notified recipients, as well as provided onsite assistance with distribution; and Col. Kenneth Wade with the high school JROTC program provided numerous volunteers to assist with bagging, distribution and cleanup.

Their efforts on a cold and wet day were greatly appreciated and contributed immensely toward the success of this worthwhile community project.
