Those passing Jenkins County Middle School (JCMS) since Christmas break may have noticed something new—crosswalks. In response to a request by the JCMS Student Leadership Council, the mayor, city council and county commissioners authorized the painting of four crosswalks. Three are on Barney Avenue, one in front of the middle school, one in front of the high school and one at the corner of Barney Avenue and Bay Street. The last crosswalk is on Bay Street.

The Student Leadership Council would like to express their sincere appreciation to all those who made the crosswalks a reality, providing a safe place for citizens, young and old, to cross.
