City recognizes JROTC’s accomplishments

The Jenkins County High School (JCHS) JROTC was recognized for its accomplishments by the City of Millen during a pep rally held at the school Tuesday, Jan. 9. Mayor King Rocker congratulated the group on their accomplishments and read a proclamation declaring Wednesday, Jan. 10, as JROTC Day in the City of Millen.

The Jenkins County JROTC program was first established Sept. 1, 2008 and has excelled in regional, state and national competitions since its existence.
Members of the JCHS JROTC program won their first precision drill state championship March 21, 2009 at Ft. Gordon and won first runner-up at the national championship Nov. 7, 2009 in Molena, placing first in two events while setting national records in both.
“The leadership, teamwork and personal sacrifice displayed by the members of the JCHS JROTC program exemplify the qualities of good citizenship and serve as an example for all to follow,” Mayor Rocker said.
Members of the JROTC Male Mixed Raider Team are James Amerson, Natalie Branch, Ruby Delgado, Fernando Gomez, Andres Jeronimo, Keondra Kelly, Brittany McKinney, Marquis Moody, Brittany Singer, Jerome Taylor, Tay Taylor and Ayana Walker.
Members of the Male Raider Team and support staff are: Rashon Brady, Paul Dieteman, Justin Ellis, Keith Heggs, Juan Jeronimo, Trenton Polk, Anthony Sea, Chris Simmons, Dwayne Snelling, Jose Solis, Bernard Thompson, Quentin Williams, Irene Dieteman and Candice Waters.
