Andy Allen ordained at West Millen Baptist

Sunday, Feb. 7, an Ordination Council was formed, consisting of the Rev. Bobby Braswell, director of missioners for the Middle Baptist Association, the Rev. Butch Taylor, the Rev. Steven Adams, Dr. Ray Freeman, Dr. Maurice Crowder and several deacons of West Millen Baptist Church. After interviewing Andy Allen, the council recommended him to serve as a gospel minister.

Upon receipt of this presentation to ordain, the church conducted a special service at 6 p.m. for the purpose of ordaining and licensing Mr. Allen. The Rev. Braswell made this presentation to the church. Special music was presented by Choir Director Sylvia Gay who had composed a song dedicated to Mr. Allen.

The Rev. Butch Taylor, pastor of Deep Creek Free Will Baptist Church, brought the charge to the church. The Rev. Steven Adams, interim pastor of Rosemary Baptist Church, then brought the charge to the candidate, followed by the laying on of hands with prayer by all ordained men.

The closing prayer was given by Rev. Andy Allen. Afterwards a reception was held to honor Rev. Allen, his wife Stacey and their children. He is currently serving as interim pastor of West Millen Baptist Church.

Green Fork Baptist youth to hold auction

The youth of Green Fork Baptist Church have been hard at work planning and collecting items for an auction to be held 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the church.

The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for anyone who wishes to come early and register, browse the vast array of items for sale or get something to eat. Concessions will be available throughout the evening of the auction.

All church members and members of the community are encouraged to come out and support the youth in their endeavors. The public is also welcome.

All proceeds from the auction will go to the youth to help fund their summer mission trip.

Lane Grove to hold Black History program Lane Grove Baptist Church will hold a Black History program and dinner 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Larry Stephens.

The public is invited to attend.

Parker Grove to hold Choir Anniversary

Parker Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Rocky Ford, will celebrate its 34th adult choir anniversary 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28.

Each choir is asked to register upon arrival, represent with a donation and render one selection.
