(Photo contributed) At the February meeting of the Millen Woman’s Club, new officers were installed. The installation ceremony was conducted by Mary Wasden. The new officers for 2010-2012 are Anette Head, president; Jean Skinner, vicepresident; Art Johnson, secretary; Mandy Underwood, treasurer; Diane Wade, parliamentarian; and Kay Green, public relations.

During the meeting, several projects and volunteer opportunities for the coming year were discussed. Sandy Lanier, International Affairs chairman, reported that the club had raised enough money to purchase a goat and two flocks of chickens for a family in a developing country. The family will use these animals for both food and income, which will help them to become self-reliant.

Mrs. Head reported that several members had joined the volunteer program at Jenkins County Hospital and that more volunteers are needed. Several members, also, will be attending the Spring District Woman’s Club meeting in Waynesboro on March 6.
