Archaeological dig being conducted at Magnolia Springs State Park

The Georgia Southern Archaeology Department is conducting an archaeological dig at Magnolia Springs State Park. The team is doing shovel testing and screening in an attempt to find the stockade wall which was burned by Gen. William T. Sherman in 1864 on his infamous “March to the Sea.”
Those who are interested in observing or participating may do so 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays, March 27, April 17, and May 1.
