Millen Woman’s Club attends district meeting

The theme for the meeting was “Women wear many hats.” (Photo contributed) On March 6, five members of Millen Woman’s Club attended the First District Spring Meeting in Waynesboro. Following the business meeting, new district officers for 2010-2012 were installed by Julie Lumpkin, junior director. Anette Head was installed as second vice-president.

The First District Department Awards for 2009 were presented to the six clubs attending for their projects during the past year. Millen Woman’s Club received the following awards: Education Department, first place; Education Department, best general club; Arts Department, second place; Conservation Department, first place; International Affairs Department, second place; and Public Affairs Department, first place.

During the meeting, a special memorial ceremony was held to honor Barbara Bowers, a longtime active member of Millen Woman’s Club.
