Following the business meeting, new district officers for 2010-2012 were installed by Julie Lumpkin, junior director. Anette Head was installed as second vice-president.

The First District Department Awards for 2009 were presented to the six clubs attending for their projects during the past year. Millen Woman’s Club received the following awards: Education Department, first place; Education Department, best general club; Arts Department, second place; Conservation Department, first place; International Affairs Department, second place; and Public Affairs Department, first place.

During the meeting, a special memorial ceremony was held to honor Barbara Bowers, a longtime active member of Millen Woman’s Club.
