JCHS girls track team competes

The girls’ track team competed in Swainsboro March 16 against Swainsboro and Screven County.

Coach Chuck Sanders states, “Even though the girls finished in third place, it was a very competitive day for the ladies. Swainsboro and Screven County are two of the most talented teams in Class AA in our area. Our girls are getting better each meet by facing tough competition.”

The Lady War Eagles out performed the two schoolsl in several events.

Deondra Lewis placed first in the Shot Put and the Discus events. Ayana Walker won first in the 100 and 200 meter sprints. Zandra Lake won first in the 300 Hurdles and placed second in the 110 Hurdles.

In addition, Jasmine Taylor running 300 Hurdles, and Chelsea Taylor in the Discus, had very good performances and placed at the meet. Also having a good meet was Shae Burke, Kayla Kirkland, Britney Jones and Whitney Jones.

Coach Sanders states, “Our young girls are getting better each and every meet. Hopefully this success and experience will lead to a successful season for this hardworking and talented team.”
