A routine traffic stop in Millen on March 23 turned into a high speed chase that ended in Waynesboro. According to Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Trooper Ben Forehand, Monica Deal Price, 27, of Augusta was driving 73 mph in a 55 mph zone on Highway 25 in Millen. When Jenkins County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Wesley Aaron attempted to pull Price over, she sped away.
GSP Trooper Mark Lamb clocked Price at 132 mph just south of Waynesboro at which time he joined the chase.
Price eventually flipped her vehicle in a Highway 56 resident’s front yard in Burke County. Price and passenger, Isaac Boykin, 20, of Hephzibah, both fled on foot but were brought down just minutes later.
According to troopers, Price had a warrant out for her arrest. She is being charged with fleeing or eluding law enforcement, leaving the scene of an accident, speeding, wreckless driving, failure to notify owner upon striking fixture and possession of an open container. Boykin was charged with hindering a law enforcement officer.
