JCMS to participate in Mini Relay for Life

Students and faculty at Jenkins County Middle School are gearing up for a Mini Relay for Life. The school is joining forces with the American Cancer Society to help find a cure for cancer. From April 12-30, the Student Leadership Council will sponsor three fund raising activities.

The first activity is a Memory Wall where for $1 memorials can be purchased for people who have cancer, have survived cancer, or have died from cancer.

“Everyone knows someone who has had or now has cancer, and we hope our entire main hallway is filled with pictures and names of people who have valiantly fought cancer,” said Mrs. Nicole Moulton, JCMS principal.

The second fund raiser is dress down days. For a donation of $5 per day, faculty members will be allowed to wear jeans during the week of April 26 – April 30. Students and faculty can donate $1 per day to wear hats during class that week.

The third scheduled event is a walk-a-thon on the afternoon of April 26, the last day of the CRCT. Unlike most walk-a-thons, donations will be accepted in leiu of pledges. Students will have an opportunity to walk around the football field showing their solidarity with and support of cancer victims.

Mrs. Moulton would like to extend an invitation to the public to stop by, see the Memory Wall, purchase a memorial, join the students during the walk-a-thon, as a participant or to cheer on the participants, and help them reach their goal of $1,000.
