Black Wins Soybean Production Efficiency Award
Lamar Black of Tilmanstone Farms was the recipient of the
2009 University of Georgia Soybean Production Efficiency
Award. The Soybean Efficiency Program is designed to determine
actual production costs. By knowing these costs and
production practices, the information that contributes to this
efficiency can be shared. This award recognizes growers that
are the most efficient in soybean production. Lamar’s cost of
production was $5.30/bushel. Soybeans were selling for approximately
$9/bushel at the time of harvest. Lamar was
awarded a plaque at the annual Soybean Expo in Perry. From
