Sex offenders are arrested
A convicted sex offender who failed to report that he had moved into Jenkins County and another whose probation was revoked have both been arrested by the Jenkins County Sheriff’s Department.
Following an April 5 report from a government agency, Timothy Scott Peacock, 21, of Finch’s Trailer Park was arrested and charged with failure to register as a convicted sex offender.
The sheriff department’s investigation revealed that Peacock had moved to Jenkins County from Dublin approximately two months prior to his arrest and was living with a friend. Peacock was charged in Laurens County in 2006 on two counts of aggravated child molestation and two counts of sodomy. He entered guilty pleas in 2008 to reduced charges of misdemeanor aggravated child molestation. The sodomy charges were dismissed.
Peacock is required to register as a convicted sex offender for life, unless his case meets very strict guidelines and is approved by the sentencing court after the completion of his sentence.
Convicted sex offender Danny Lee Nesmith’s probation was revoked April 7 for the use of illegal drugs and his failure to maintain a residence which meets the guidelines of the law. He was incarcerated in the Jenkins County Jail, pending transport to the state prison system.
“Sex offenders are required to immediately report a change in address to the sheriff’s office for the county in which they reside and are supervised. We take the enforcement of this responsibility very seriously,” commented Jenkins County Sheriff Robert Oglesby.
The Jenkins County Sheriff’s Department currently supervises and monitors 12 sex offenders.
