A wonderful happening took place at the Ms. Georgia Nursing Home pageant held at the Evergreen resort in Stone Mountain on Saturday. Ms. Syl-View 2010, Margaret Lovett, was named one of the finalists, and we are delighted.
To be chosen as a finalist among the 22 competing from across the state was awesome. She received a trophy as the third runner-up and congratulations from the large crowd attending. She was interviewed on stage by Paul Ossman, an accomplished broadcaster on Atlanta television. She received her award from Jon Howell, president and chief executive officer of Georgia Health Care Association. Margaret’s personality was shining brightly as she answered the questions in her witty manner.
Our administrator, Toni Ellison; Sheila Wilson, R.N.; activity staff members Britteny Mills, Kelly Tiller; and Margaret’s niece, Carsha Sapp, were present at the pageant. Don Scarborough and I were also present and all were so proud of Mrs. Lovett.
Syl-View has been blessed to have had 21 semi-finalists in the last 21 years and three became Ms. Georgia Nursing home. Four others of the group were finalists. We are grateful for a safe journey to Syl-View where Mrs. Lovett was met by staff and residents with hugs and congratulations.
Mrs. Ellison and Don and I represented Syl-View at the career fair held at Ogeechee Technical College this past week. We had a display of pictures of activities and events at Syl-View and had pamphlets listing the jobs involved in long term care at Syl-View. We are happy to be a part of the community and area events.
I am preparing the Total Community Involvement scrapbook, and I am so grateful for the privi- lege of being able to share our happenings in The Millen News.
We look forward to Fun Nights, and as we try to get our activity calendar for May ready, we will be making plans for National Nursing Home Week.
Memories of the pageant and being able to visit with Miss Georgia, television personalities and seeing friends from across the state will fill our hearts and minds for some time to come. We would love to have you come visit us at Syl- View.
