The idea of this project originated at the 2008 Georgia Youth Summit Leadership Conference held at Rock Eagle.

During this conference, each county was charged with the idea of implementing a community service project. Jenkins County decided to beautify Scarboro Landing. To help fund this project, a $500 Community Improvement Grant was secured. This grant covered the cost of grading, gravel and other miscellaneous costs. Students helped fill in washes, smooth gravel, and pickup trash and other debris. A total of 200 pounds of trash and litter was collected and disposed of.
