Candidates qualify for July election

Five persons qualified last week for three local positions to appear on the July 20 Democratic/Republican General Primary/ Special Election ballot.

For the position of State Court Solicitor, incumbent Troy Gay is unopposed.

For Jenkins County Commissioner, District #2, incumbent Pamelia Ann Dwight is also unopposed.

The incumbent county commissioner from District #5, James (Jerry) Henry, faces opposition from Mae Francis Wright Harris and Bill Sipes.

All candidates have qualified on the Democratic ticket. No candidates qualified on the Republican ticket.

Anyone who is registered to vote as of June 21 may vote in this election. Voters may register to vote in the office of the Jenkins County Registrar, Jenkins County Courthouse.
