However, those who showed up to work were not deterred, especially the young people who donned trash bags as rain gear and kept on working. The Jenkins County High School (JCHS) JCHS JROTC, JCHS Science Club, JCHS Interact Club, Millen/Jenkins County Chamber of Commerce directors, Jenkins County Family Enrichment Fatherhood, Friends of the Millen Cemetery, Dry Branch Baptist Church youth, Millen Methodist Church youth, Joe Sasser, Boyd Sasser, Jerry Waters, Frank Timmons, Norma Timmons and Larry Johnson persevered through the showers.

Groups who completed projects on other days were the Jenkins County 4-H Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Oak Hill Baptist Church youth, Millen Garden Club and Azalea Garden Club.

Many Jenkins County residents took advantage of the opportunity to recycle electronics. A trailer load of was ready to be picked up when Creative Recycling came on April 30.

April was Keep Georgia Beautiful Month, Keep America Beautiful Month and Keep Jenkins Beautiful Month. The local project was organized by Millen Better Hometown with the support of Millen/Jenkins County Chamber of Commerce, the City of Millen and the Jenkins County Commissioners. Grady Lane and Clay Boulineau helped plan and coordinate activities.
