Eagles win one, lose one

The Jenkins County High School varsity baseball team won a hard fought game against Screven County 10-8, and lost 8- 0 to Calvary last week.

Leading hitters for the Eagles in the game against Screven County were: Will Bragg, 1-2 with a homerun & 2 RBI’s; Will Brinson, 1-2 with a sacrifice bunt; Akeem Young, 2-3 with two RBI’s; and Aaron Comstock 2-4 with two RBI’s.

“Aaron Comstock pitched five fine innings with three strikeouts and seven hits. Will Bragg came in to get the save with only three hits and three strikeouts. It was a good non-region game with a lot of action. It was a good game to watch and even better when you can get the win,” said Coach Wendell Clark.

Eagles’ leading hitters in the game against Screven County were: Jake Knight 2-2 with two singles; Dag Gay 1-3 with a triple; Will Brinson 1-3 with a double; and Akeem Young 1-3 with a stolen base.

“Jake Knight pitched the fin- est game I have ever seen against Calvary for us. He had a one hitter going in the fifth inning against the # 2 team in the state. To Calvary’s credit they made some adjustments on Jake the third time around the batting order and started getting some hits. Aaron Tanner came in to pitch 2/3 of an inning and Trey Black came in to record the final out of the inning. We played a good game against a great team all eight runs were errand with some timing hitting. We played a great defensive game with no errors. We would like to thank all the fans for their support this year during the season and would love to see all of you at the playoff games,” said Coach Clark.
