JCMS Beta Club inducts new members

(Photo contributed) Beta Club is an academic organization which promotes leadership, character, and service. Students must achieve an overall 90 or above scholastic average to be invited to join, and they must maintain this A average to remain in good standing and be an active member.

On Monday, May 3, 35 middle school students were invited to participate in the Jenkins County Middle School (JCVMS) chapter of the Junior Beta Club’s induction ceremony.

Eighth grade members, D Brown, Nicole Wilson, Harley Purvis and Mark Brannen, led the ceremony, which told of the “Keys of Achievement, Character, Leadership, and Service.” Sponsor, Ms. Jessica Reese issued the challenge of “the keeping of the keys” to the new members, and Robert Newsome accepted this challenge on behalf of the new members. Sarah Beth Cates led the twentyseven inductees in the official Beta Club Pledge.

Others assisting with the program were: ushers Cad Davis, Justice Deloach, Mary Beth Norris, and Tyler Taylor and Servers, Robin Boone, Corrina Dease and Ali Deal.

The JCMS Jr. Beta Club expressed appreciation to Ms. Ashley Burch and the JCHS Ag Department for the use of their ferns, Ms. Jessica Reese, Mrs. Nicole Green, Mr. John Paul Hearn and Mrs. Rhonda Clark, sponsors for all of their hard work, and Mrs. Joyce Saxon of Southern Creations of Statesboro for the use of the beautiful flowers. A special word of appreciation was expressed to all the parents attending and supporting the academic achievements of these young people.
