Woodrow Wilson Sr., 73, of Millen died May 23

Mr. Woodrow Wilson Sr., 73, of Millen died Sunday, May 23, 2010.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Oak Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Jamie Archer, Shirley Middleton, Terry Hendrix and James Jackson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Wilson was born in Jenkins County and was a veteran of the U. S. Army Reserve and a retired postal carrier. He was also a deacon of the Oak Hill Baptist Church where he served as choir leader and Sunday school teacher for the Bethany Home. Mr. Wilson was also a former Jenkins County Commissioner.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Hurst Wilson; two sons, Woodrow (Jennifer) Wilson Jr. and Lindy Wilson, both of Millen; a grandson, Jason Wilson of Millen; two granddaughters, Christina Jenkins of Statesboro and Nicole Wilson of Millen; a sister, Mary W. Ambrose of Savannah; a brother, Johnny (Pearl) Wilson of Brunswick; and several nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers were Jett Wilson, Dick Wilson, Dean Brinson, Edwin Cates, Robert Oglesby and Lynn Hurst.

Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Oak Hill Baptist Church and Bethany Home Nursing Center employees.
