Millen man shot in armed robbery
A 29-year-old Millen man was shot twice during an armed robbery that occurred around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, at 304 Waters Avenue. Antonio Maurice Wadley was discovered lying on the ground at the residence by Millen Police Department officers responding to a reported shooting at the location.
The victim told officers that a black male wearing all black clothing with a black hood had pulled an automatic pistol and pointed it at him, demanding his wallet. The victim surrendered the wallet as instructed.
Officers recovered the wallet along with a cellular telephone, knife and two 9 mm bullet cases at the rear of the residence. Bystanders at the scene gave officers two possible names of the suspect who they said resided in Statesboro or Burke County.
Wadley was transported to the Jenkins County Hospital by emergency medical services personnel for treatment of his injuries.
The incident remains under investigation by the Millen Police Department.
