Early and absentee voting in the July 20 Democratic/Republican General Primary/ Special Election is presently underway. Voters will be able to cast their ballots through Friday, July 16. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. with voting taking place at the Jenkins County Courthouse.

Local positions and candidates in this election include: State Court Solicitor, Troy Gay; Jenkins County Commissioner, District #2, Pamelia Ann Dwight; Jenkins County Commissioner, District #5, James (Jerry) Henry, Mae Francis Wright Harris and Bill Sipes.

All local candidates have qualified on the Democratic ticket. No candidates qualified on the Republican ticket.

Applications for absentee ballots may be made in the office of the Jenkins County Registrar at the Jenkins County Courthouse until July 16.
