Kids to get free lunches during summer
The Jenkins County Board of Education (BOE) announces the Summer Feeding Program will be at Cotton Market Park (downtown Millen) and Kid’s Estate
406 Old Waynesboro Road) during the summer months that school is not in session.
This program provides nutritious lunches at no cost to all children eighteen (18) and under Monday through Thursday from June 7 through June 30 and from July 12 through July 29.
The BOE is extending the Summer Lunch Program through July this summer due to the economy and school starting later this coming fiscal year. Children will be served from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Kid’s Estate and from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Cotton Market Park.
For the safety of the children who do not have transportation, the BOE is providing transportation for children only. The bus will make five (5) different stops within the city limits. For more information, contact Debra Herrmann at 478-982-6000.
The BOE encourages all parents to bring their child(ren) to participate in the Summer Lunch Program.
