Arrr, mateys! We’ve got a pirate-y good Storytime for the little ones today, June 9, at 11 a.m. as we prepare to embark on our Summer Reading Program adventure!

We’ll be setting sail to Summer Reading on Monday, June 14, and our trip will last until July 23, with plenty of fun stops along the way. We have three programs this year, one for children called “Make a Splash”, one for young folks between 11 and 19 years old called “Make Waves,” and one for adults called “Water Your Mind.”

Our kickoff party for the Summer Reading will be Tuesday, June 15 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. – 1:30 pm, and that same afternoon we will have a performance by magician David Ginn.

Wednesday, June 16, at 11 a.m. we will have a tie-dye Storytime – bring your own shirt to be part of the fun! Also at 3 p.m. we will have the first teen craft day of the summer! Teen craft days will be every Wednesday at 3 p.m., and they are open to anyone aged 11 and up.

Teens and tweens, stop by the library to pick up permission forms for the Teen Lock-In & Wii Party to be held on June 18 from 6–8 pm. Permission forms are due on Monday, June 14, and no one may attend without a signed permission form!

Saturday, June 19, at 4p.m., Atlanta jazz duo JAZZMATIC will be performing live at the Screven County Library in Sylvania. They’re two cool cats playing funky jazz like you’ve never heard and their concert is free and open to all ages. This program is supported in part by the Grassroots Arts Program of the Georgia Council for the Arts through the appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly and in partnership with the Statesboro Arts Council.
