Library News
Summer Reading is here! We have fun for all ages here at the library, and it’s all free!
Today, Wednesday, June 16, at 3 p.m., we’re going to be doing the first teen craft project! It’s a guaranteed cool time that will help you beat the heat all summer, so don’t miss it. We will have a teen craft every Wednesday at 3 p.m. throughout the Summer Reading Program.
On Friday, June 18, from 6-8 p.m. we will be rocking out with the Wii during our Teen Lock-In! There will be snacks, fun, and of course the chance to play with the Wii.
Tuesday, June 22, we’ve got a double-header with storyteller and musician Phyllis Free. At noon she will be teaching the youngsters how to make stories more interesting with sound effects and improvised instruments during “Bang out a Story”. At 2 p.m. she will teach older kids, teens and adults to drum up some music the fun way with “Drum Circle.” On Saturday, June 19, at 4 p.m. at our sister library in Sylvania, there will be a concert by Atlanta jazz duo Jazzmatic. They’re two cool cats who can lay down some funky tunes. All of these programs are supported in part by the Grassroots Arts Program of the Georgia Council for the Arts through the appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly and in partnership with the Averitt Center for the Arts.
Wednesday, June 23, we have a visit from Smokey Bear at 11 a.m. So bring the youngsters to meet the world’s most famous bear!
Want to find out all the rest of the cool stuff going on this summer? Head for the library and join the Summer Reading Program now! The program will be running from June 14 until July 23, and is open to all ages.
Well, that’s all for now – see you at the library!
