Qualifying begins for Nonpartisan offices

Qualifying as a candidate for Nonpartisan offices in the Nov. 2 General Election begins next week at the office of the Jenkins County Probate Judge, first floor of the Jenkins County Courthouse.

Candidates may qualify between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 28, through Thursday, July 1. On Friday, July 2, hours are 9 a.m. until noon.

Offices up for election are: State Court Judge, presently held by R. Hubert Reeves III; Jenkins County Board of Education, District #2, presently held by Irene Drummer; and Jenkins County Board of Education, District #5, presently held by Carroll Gay.

Qualifying fees are $90 for the board of education seats and $568.92 for State Court Judge position.
