Library News

By Sharon Blank

It’s summer and that means it’s busy at the library! Keep watching this space for the latest news on all the programs and activities we will be having here – there will be a lot to see this month!

This Wednesday, July 7, at 11 a.m., the folks from 4-H will be stopping by and letting us know about their organization.

Also this Wednesday, and every Wednesday until the end of Summer Reading on July 21, we will be having our terrific Teen Crafts! It’s open to all ages, but the little ones may have a little trouble with some of the harder parts of the projects.

On Friday, July 9, at 3 p.m. we will be having our awesome Chocolate Party. We’ll have chocolate drinks, chocolate snacks and even an awesome chocolate fountain to dip your goodies into… and it’s all free! Get there early before we run out!

Next Wednesday, July 14, at 11 a.m., we will have “Water Balloons and Weird Science”, a super-cool and super-fun exploration of crazy scientific experiments. This program is open to all ages.

Don’t forget about the Underwater Art contest! Kids and teens who bring their art to the library by Friday, July 16, can enter the contest and may win cool prizes! Just make sure that you make a piece of art featuring something to do with water (fish, a lake, the ocean or anything else water-themed) and bring it in before the deadline with the artist’s name, age and a phone number where we can reach you and you’re in!

New to the library: ESPN Ultimate Nascar: 100 Defining Moments in Stock Car Racing History by Ryan McGee. From the experts at ESPN comes this list of the biggest events in stock car racing history. Some of the highlights include Dale Earnhardt, Sr.’s first race, Elzie Wylie Baker Jr.’s breaking of the 200 mph barrier, the rivalry between Richard Petty and David Pearson and many more.
