JCMS football practice begins

“Celebrating Children” event to be held
An all day event, “Celebrating Children”, ages 9 months to 12 years, will be held Saturday, July 17, at Diamond Lakes Regional Park, Augusta. The event is sponsored by The Anthony DeJuan Boatwright Foundation and others.
Activities kick-off at 9 a.m. with a parade. Children can enter a fishing rodeo, save our planet art competitions, walk on the nature trail, visit live petting zoo, enjoy story time at the library and more.
Attention 6th grade band students
Jenkins County Middle School sixth grade students who may be interested in participating in band, along with their parents, are invited to an information meeting 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, or 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, in the Jenkins County High School cafeteria.
Representatives from music stores will be present to assist students in determining which instrument works best for them and to set up the rental. Representatives from Pladd Dot, Statesboro, will be present at the Tuesday meeting, and representatives from Portmans, Savannah, will be present at the Thursday meeting.
Kiddie Cheer Camp to be held July 26-30
A Kiddie Cheer Camp will be held 9 a.m. until noon Monday, July 26, through Friday, July 30 at the new gymnatorium on North Avenue for ages pre-k through seventh grade.
The costs are as follows: one child, $30; two in family, $50; and three in family, $75. Participants will learn cheers, chants and dances. Snacks and a camp T-shirt will be provided. Also, a pep rally will be held.
Payment can be made the first day of camp. Registration will be held 8-9 a.m. on the day of the camp.

39’ers to meet July 19
The 39’ers will meet noon Monday, July 19, at the Millen Community House. Connie Fitch of Magnolia Springs State Park will present the program.
All members are encouraged to attend.
