Numerous residents of Jenkins County have contacted the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) regarding adding U.S. Flags on the Southside of Cotton Avenue. All American Post Commander Byron Scogins declared a desire to do this, however, the current economic situation prevents it.

Also, the VFW would like to purchase two large urns with floral displays to locate in the two circles on the sidewalk on the Southside of Cotton Avenue. Flags and flowers would greatly enhance the appearance.

The VFW is asking residents to please donate for this enhancement. Donations may be made “in memory of” or “in honor of” loved ones who may have served, or are currently serving, in the military.

It is tax deductible and a donor list can be printed in The Millen News, if desired. If made “in memory” or “in honor”, please provide the person’s name.
