Are you crafty? Whether your answer is “yes” or “no”, join us for our Teen Crafts this Wednesday, July 21 at 3 p.m.! It’s going to be a lot of fun, so don’t miss it.

This is the last week of our terrific Summer Reading Program 2010! We’re very pleased to say that this has been one of our best years ever! We’d like to take a moment to thank everyone who supported us this summer, and all through the year. Whether you came down and helped tie-dye t-shirts or managed to find some funds to donate for us to buy crafts, prizes and treats for the kids, we couldn’t have done it without all of you!

Our branch manager, Mrs. Wilma Gainey, will be retiring this year. We would like to thank her for her hard work over the course of the past 21 years, and to wish her the best as she moves on to the next phase of her life. We invite everyone who would like to thank her for her years of dedication to come by and see her during library hours on Monday, July 26, before she leaves us for a life with fewer books and movies and a lot more fishing and visiting with the grandkids! There will be a retirement ceremony at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, July 26, at the Jenkins County Library. All are welcome.

Also on Monday, July 26 at 4 p.m. at the Screven County Library we will have an appearance by 2008 Georgia Author of the Year Man Martin. He will be discussing his award-winning book “Days of the Endless Corvette” and his new work, and how he was able to get published. It will definitely be worth the drive!

New at the library: “Evidence: An Alex Delaware Novel” by Jonathan Kellerman. Veteran cop Milo Sturgis is no stranger to death, but even he is shocked when one of LA’s most vulgar mansions is burned down and the corpses of two people are found entwined together in the ashes. Can Sturgis and criminal psychologist Alex Delaware find the killer before someone else gets burned?

Well, that’s all for now – see you at the library!
